How to discover nonprofits in Fort Worth

Everyone agrees that it is a good idea to volunteer. Most people even want to do so, but how many people actually do go out and volunteer? When faced with the countless number of nonprofits and volunteer opportunities, we often become overwhelmed, and give up on trying to find "the match." Here are some tips on finding the right organization to volunteer at.

What are you passionate about?

Do you love animals? Do you want to work with kids? What about the environment?
While easier said than done, knowing with whom or what you want to work can easily narrow down your choices. Try browsing by category here.

How can you apply your talents to volunteerism?

Whether you are a master gardener, organizational guru, or computer ninja, your skills can be put to work for an organization. Compare your skill-set with how organizations operate, or what they need.
Perhaps you can do some landscaping, or website design.

Do what you think makes an impact

Don't worry about trying to change the world. If you believe in an organization, and want to volunteer, go for it! It is the diversity of charity and responses that makes Fort Worth as awesome as it is.

Our sidebar has some "approved" nonprofits: take a look!

My Experience with CPP

Community Partners has been a great experience for me in these past couple of summers. Although I have never been able to attend all days of the program, I have greatly enjoyed the days I was able to make it. Through the program I have learned about several organizations such as the Boys and Girls Club, NICU Helping Hands, and Cuisine for Healing. I have had a ton of fun engaging in philanthropy and service activities beside a great (and slightly sassy) group of people. Mrs. Roten and Mrs. Murphy have put together a great organization that is not only great for the community but also a great experience for students wishing to engage in community service and have fun doing it!
